Registry Methodology

Registry Methodology

The IISTP Global Registry documents brief and short-term psychological approaches through a transparent process of identification, source review, institutional verification and ongoing documentation.

How the Registry Works

1. Identification

Potential approaches and techniques are identified through academic literature, professional organizations, universities, research centres, training institutions and other relevant public sources.

2. Documentation

IISTP records the available information concerning theoretical origin, structure, intended psychological function, treatment duration, session range, application context and supporting documentation.

3. Source Review

Information is reviewed against identifiable public sources, including institutional documentation, professional bodies, manuals, research publications and other relevant references.

4. Institutional Verification

Where appropriate, IISTP contacts the relevant institution or professional body and invites it to verify, clarify or correct the documented information.

5. Classification

IISTP does not define an approach as brief or short-term solely by applying a fixed numerical session threshold. The Registry documents how brief and short-term approaches are defined, structured and described by their originating literature, institutions and professional communities, while separately recording available information about typical treatment duration and session range.

6. Registry Entry

Entries are presented with a documentation status that reflects the available level of verification. Status may include Institutionally Verified, Documented or Under Review.

7. Corrections and Updates

The Registry is designed as a living international reference resource. Institutions, researchers and relevant professional bodies may submit corrections, additional documentation or updated information for review.

Scope and Independence

IISTP is a documentation and international reference initiative. Inclusion in the Global Registry does not constitute accreditation, licensing, certification or endorsement of an approach, practitioner or institution.

Conflict of Interest and Related Approaches

Where an approach, technique or organization is directly connected to an IISTP founder, officer, reviewer or contributor, that relationship is disclosed. The related individual does not participate in the verification or review of that specific entry. The same documentation criteria and status labels apply to related and unrelated approaches alike.
